Miami, FL, October 9, 2009 - Team Moore Racing and
driver Andrew Prendeville competed in the Miami 100 at
Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 9th finishing 10th.
With blazing heat, high humidity, a tight field, and three
cautions, the race provided an exciting end to the 2009 season.
Andrew qualified 13th on the grid and was moving up through
the field when the third yellow flag was thrown on lap 55,
dashing Andrew’s chances of making even more gains in
the 67 lap race. Still, Andrew finished the season with a solid
top ten finish, placing him in 9th place in the series
championship. TMR finished 10th in entrants points for
the season.
Another highlight of the event was the presentation of the
Force For Earth Hard Charger Award to Andrew for his
performance at Chicagoland. The award was given to
Andrew during the pre-race driver introductions.
“I had a great time this year with Mark, Graham, John,
Elliot and Cole. Regardless of our results, we still had
a great time and we were competitive most everywhere
we went. I wish I had met the team sooner in my career.
Everything would have been a lot smoother. If you are
an up and coming driver, you would be a fool not to
seriously consider working with Team Moore,” said
driver Andrew Prendeville.
Co-owner Tom Wood commented: “The wrap-up to the
season saw TMR finish in 10th place. Although we were
hoping for a better result, Andrew drove a solid race. The
team did a really good job. This series is so competitive.
It was a really exciting race for the fans.”
“It is hard to believe the season is over. With the one month break since Chicago and extreme heat it almost felt like we are at the first race
of the season. We ran very well in practice yet qualifying was a letdown, but we knew we would be strong for the race. I really believe we were
headed to a top 5 finish until that last caution; at that point Andrew was just rolling up his competition. Andrew had done a great job of
conserving his tires, changing lines and adjusting his car for the conditions. We simply ran out of time in the race, and would have to settle
for a top ten,” added co-owner Mark Moore.
Following the weekend’s final races for both Indy Lights and IndyCar, the 2009 Indy Racing League Championship Celebration was held poolside at
the W Hotel in South Beach. The elegant yet relaxed event was a wonderful opportunity for all the teams to get together and enjoy recapping the
season.
As TMR now focuses on signing two drivers for the 2010 season, Moore reflects on 2009: “The entire team, Tom, my wife and I feel privileged to
have worked with and gotten to know Andrew, his mother Pat, and his entire family this past season. They are super people and we are all sure we
have made life-long friends.”
